What comes to your mind when you think of that word?
It's one of those words that creates a condition. You have to do this in order to get that, you have to believe this in order to achieve that, you have to, you have to, you have to... wow I'm tired already.
I was getting ready for work one morning. And this story came to my mind.
"Then he brought Him to Jerusalem, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here”. Luke 4:9 NKJV
Satan thought he could tempt Jesus to forget his mission and the reason He came to this earth by telling Him to commit suicide, basically. Can you imagine? He taught he could take advantage of Jesus’ apparent ‘weakness’ at that moment. Because Jesus was in the desert and was already fasting for 40 days with no food or water. Satan came to Him to tempt Him because he knew Jesus was hungry.
Looking back on your past experiences, the decisions you’ve made in the past let us focus on the not-so-good ones. I for one could say I have made a few bad decisions in my life because I wasn’t aware that there was another option or I was simply caught up in the moment and had no time to stop and think.
And the funny thing is, that same little 2 letter words always come last. If I had known better, If I had listened to sound advice, If I had not gone there, If I was sincere and told the truth, If, If and a few more. In this case, it automatically makes you feel like you’ve missed out on something. It could also make you feel like a failure to some extent. But stay with me...
The biggest problem this word brings is doubt. Yep! There it is I said it. It can make you second guess yourself. I’m even struggling not to use it too often in this post but hey, I’m trying to make a point. If you’re not strong enough mentally if you’re not alert to the little lies that come to your mind that are not profitable to your life then you will definitely fall prey to it.
So when you hear that little word again. Stop. Look & Listen. I remember those 3 steps from my childhood. They represent safety. Don’t allow doubts to bombarded your mind or to take you off course to what you are destined to do with your life.
Stand firm. Believe in your purpose. Believe in your dreams and trust that you will give light to those around you. Because our dreams are never for own benefit. Everyone around us will celebrate with us, whether directly or indirectly someone will be helped by it, someone will be helped through it or someone will be helped because of it.
Until next time.
