Corona, I Thank You!

Where do I begin? It’s been a while since I’ve been here. I would never think I would be able to take a break from writing, but I’ve learnt that with massive changes come massive growth. It is always how we choose to look at the situation around us or the one we find ourselves in.

You see, I had taken a few weeks to really focus on another project to help me navigate through the remainder of the year and one thing I’ve put in my heart is that I will not allow the year to finish without achieving at least more of my goals. What about you? Are you still staying focused on the goals you set out with at the beginning of 2020? Corona has taught us all something one way or another.

Corona has taught us that we are not in control as much as we would like to be? On the other hand, It has taught us how industrious we are as well even without realising. We are now thinking of new ways of doing things differently from how we were doing over nine months ago. Could you imagine restaurants doing Take Aways now? Could you imagine school children having lessons online? Could you have imagined being paid 80% of your income to stay at home with your children? The little ones we were too busy to see or spend time with?

So much have changed and I must say the most important thing for me that has changed was my perspective on life. I had time to reflect on things that were more important to me. I had time to look deep within and be at peace with myself, I had time to plan ahead and be so excited about my dreams, so much so I was waking up so I started waking up early with new excitement.

I had been exposed to different ways of thinking, meeting new people with different stories and experiences I would not have heard of or saw if it wasn’t for Corona. I would not have been in the same room with the mother who had dedicated her whole adult life to raising her children and is finally having the courage to do something to grow her confidence in herself. I would not have met the guy who always wanted to go after a particular career path but had no courage to take the step and I would not have met the teacher who loved to demonstrate her wealth of knowledge in person with people who had decided to give back to their community.

So on that note, I’m thankful to Corona for interrupting our routines, for pointing us in another direction, for giving us the courage to step out in faith, for inspiring us to be better and for doing things differently.

I will leave you this verse today which inspires me to be bold, courageous and yet peaceful even though things seem to be going south. It says “Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 This verse is a reminder for us that it’s not only when things are going great we should be grateful but also in times of doubt, fear and uncertainty we should still be grateful because it is in these moments our resolve is tested and reveal to ourselves who we really are on the inside.

Here is a song called 'Grace' I would like to share with you. It is Afro-Gospel and so some words are broken. However, I thought it might just cheer you up even if you only move your feet to the beat today.

Let's keep moving forward taking one day at a time and always remember that life is more important than any problems we might be going through. Life is still worth living!

Until next time.
