Today I’d love to share a story with you. It’s nothing out of the ordinary but my prayer is that you will take something from it by the time you reach the end of the post.
I won’t bore you with all the gory details but over the weekend I had planned to buy myself a piece of jewellery a ring to be precise, however, I was determined to buy it from a certain store, I had checked it out online saw the price that it was affordable and was really excited about buying it. But to my astonishment, my trip to the store was not that straight forward as I thought, I had to go through a few loops and curves in order to get myself the ring I wanted at the price I wanted.
1. I was so excited, I didn’t even know my ring size; so I asked to measure my finger. Got the size that fits and then on my way to order my ring. At the desk, with my card in hand, I realised it says ‘sold out’ I was so sad. I had set my eyes on that one particular one and now it was no longer available! What am I going to do?
2. I must say though, prior to arriving at the store I planned to visit, I was distracted looking at other stores, the rings were so beautiful but they were still out of the original budget I wanted to spend. So I decided to stick to my original plan. Nevertheless, I was now on a new journey to find the very thing I set out to get.
3. I arrived at the new store, and looked profusely for the jewellery stand, I looked and saw earrings, watches, necklaces, hair accessories, etc. you name it, it was all there, but I had to stay focused. Until I arrived at the place where I was meant to be. I found a beautiful ring. It fitted perfectly, just my size. Just the right price. However, I was not having peace about it.
4. So I continued looking. And looking I did. Until I came across these beautiful set of rings that fitted me so perfectly, they were totally out of my comfort zone though, but they were just right. Even lower than the amount I planned to spend.
The moral of this story is this. While I was searching for a ring that fitted me so well I had experienced a few setbacks along the way, which reminds me of the search for the one person we will one day spend our lives with, or maybe it’s something else you’re looking for right now.
The search may not be as straight forward as we’d like. But you have to be persistent and never give up hope. If you let Him, God is right there with you. He will guide you along the way, but only if you invite Him on the journey with you and tell him all your fears, doubts, anxieties, hurts, pains, or whatever it is you're feeling.
Maybe you don’t even believe that He exists anymore because of what you’re facing or what you see going on in the world right now. Tell Him that too. He loves our sincerity and one thing He loves to do is to prove Himself. Why? Because He doesn’t go back on His word. As the Bible says:
“If we are faithless, He is Faithful; He cannot deny Himself.” 2 Timothy 2:13 (NKJV)
Imagine! God’s word says He cannot deny Himself. How much more us, who is the creation of His own hands?
And you know something, during this whole time I was having a conversation with God on my journeys to each of these stores and He directed my path until I found the one, just for me. In a store, I never even thought of in the first place. So trust Him, He will direct your oaths too! :)
Until next time.
