Yesterday, I was on a call with a friend of mine, I love talking with her. We always have something to talk about and I love how we always seek to encourage each other with the Word of God especially during this time of crisis.
As we have been seeing on the news recently we have another virus that’s taking over. Racism. This virus that has been affecting our humanity for decades. I’m not claiming to be an expert on this topic but I’m seeking to do my part with the platform that I have. Most of my colleagues and friends are all from different parts of the world and it would be very sad to think that we would suddenly turn against each other because of the colour of our skin. Diversity is something we celebrate, right? I mean even the weather has four seasons. But we embrace the change and welcome it as it is. We even adjust the way we dress.
I believe there is a right way to go about everything and violence and hatred are not the answer. We cannot fight evil with evil because it would make both of us equally guilty. If we should go to a courthouse there is a plaintiff and a defendant and from my time watching Judge Judy on TV I’ve learned a few things. She said to one of the plaintiffs on the show that “if you decide to come to the court to seek justice your hands must be clean.” You cannot be found guilty of anything if you’re accusing the defendant of wrongdoing.
I never thought of it like that myself, but it was very interesting to know that information and so I’m sharing it with you now. If there is injustice, we cannot put blame on someone else, we cannot point the finger. We have to stop for a moment and think, what can I do to help the situation? How can I be of influence to improve the situation? How can I shine my light?
While I was on the call with my friend, I had lit a candle. I had it burning because I wanted to feel the warmth of the flames on my hands since the weather here in England is ever-changing. While I had my hand towards the flame, I realised that the least movement of my hand moves the flame and could put it out. So I had to be gentle, I had to be careful not to allow the breeze to put out the flame.
So, my question again to you is this. Will you simply allow your flame to go out? Are you shining your light for others to see? Or will you allow the breeze, (fear, hatred, malice, indifference) to put out your light?
We all matter! Not only because of the colour of our skin but because the Creator of this world became flesh to die for us all. Let’s go back to the original plan. Love was and still is the reason!
Until next time.
