It's Surprising How Some People Think That Following God's Principles Is A Kill-Joy!

I've been thinking about this for a while now and this is something that keeps popping up in various conversations I've had with people who:

  • Doesn't understand the importance of keeping their word.

  • Having standards that protect from heartache.

  • Is quick to argue that these standards have been or are outdated.

I'm not here to put anyone down but I'm just here to remind you that whoever or whatever you believe in there will be some sort of give-and-take. We can't say we believe in something just for the sake of it. We have to see the benefits of it one way or another. And for the purpose of this post. I believe in the principles of God because from my own experiences and observations of other people's choices both good and bad. I have come to the informed conclusion this is the way forward for me. A kill-joy is someone who deliberately tries to spoil the enjoyment or pleasure of others. At first, I thought I was missing something and this would be related to a person who can't bear to see someone else happy and enjoying life. So they would plan or conjure up something in order for the other person to lose out or miss an opportunity. Now personally speaking I think it would be unfair to think that following the principles that God put in place would be to kill my joy. It just doesn't make sense. If anything, He put them in place to protect me from heartache, to protect me from pain, to protect me from suffering the guaranteed consequences of my choices whether I will do them or not. Because if we choose to obey a command and if we choose to disobey a command no matter who it is. It is inevitable that we will reap the consequences. It is one of the things that we can never get away from. Consequences. Think with me, If I'm driving but I don't feel like stopping when the light is red. It is there to protect me and others from an accident that may cost me my life or the life of someone else. The decision will always be mine. The choice to stop (listening to the direction, taking the advice or possible warning) or to risk it - I look both sides there are no cars coming anyway (Taking my life in my own hands; Afterall who says I have to wait anyway, it's my life I do what I want, I only live once, what have I got to lose?) sooner or later I will see the end results of those choices. Free will is also one of the greatest gifts that the human race has. The will of a man is so strong that whatever he puts his mind to he can achieve it. Which reminds me of the story of the Tower of Babel. The people were in one accord with each other and they began to build a tower towards heaven. Now, they were doing so well that even God had to stop them. Which is how we now have different languages in the world right now. You can read the story in the Bible in the book of Genesis Chapter 11 verses 1-9. So my dear friends, obeying God's principles is not about Him trying to rob me of pleasure or having a good time. Even more so the opposite. If anything He wants me and you to have peace from within, He wants us to be happy, He wants us to have an abundant life and all that comes with it. Especially with a clear conscience. But most of all He wants to be the reason for it all. I hope this post has encouraged you today because doing the right is not always popular. Feel free to let me know your thoughts on this.

Until next time.
